The Gratitude Grant Project’s first initiative focused on revitalizing the atrium at Pond Springs Elementary School. With the help of adults and six student volunteers, the team cleaned the space, removed debris, and refreshed the garden beds with new soil—creating a more welcoming environment for students and staff. The school later recognized the effort by featuring the project in their newsletter.
The atrium, intended as a shared space for outdoor learning, eating lunch, reading, and exploration, was not well maintained. Fallen leaves, sticks, and debris covered the floor, and the garden beds were struggling to stay healthy.
